Sugar Cookies
This is the recipe my grandmother used. She said it’s old, from the 1940’s.
1/2 Cup shortening
1 Cup sugar
2 Large eggs
1 teaspoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/4 Cups flour
2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Heat oven to 375° F.
Cream the shortening, sugar, eggs, milk, and
vanilla in a large mixing bowl.
Mix in the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Roll the dough and slice. Place cookies on an ungreased baking sheet and
bake for about 12 minutes (until a light, golden brown) at 375° F.
